 The AFMP/FNV is a member of Euromil, the European Organisation of Military Associations. Euromil is a union of free democratic associations representing the interests of military personnel. The organisation was founded in 1972 by nine associations from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. At present, EUROMIL counts 36 member/observer associations out of 23 Europian countries representing nearly 500.000 individuals. |

Welcome to the AFMP/FNV, one off the largest associations for military personnel in the Netherlands. At present more than 25.000 (retired) military personnel are a member of AFMP/FNV. 
The history of the Dutch associations for military personnel dates back to 1898 (!) when the first association for Non-Commissioned-Officers (NCO's) of the Army was founded. The main reason for founding such an association was the fact that in these days there was almost no social security for the NCO. 
All European armies participate in missions abroad or send soldiers to integrated units. In such missions, all soldiers need to do service and fulfil their mission together with comrades from other nations. Service and labour law regulations and habits of the different armed forces meet and this may cause problems with regard to cooperation and living together.
